Working in sync with Kamal Nath: Jyotiraditya Scindia
Congress president Rahul Gandhi favoured 71-year-old Kamal Nath over the young Scindia to lead the party in election-bound Madhya Pradesh.

In his first interview after being appointed Madhya Pradesh Congress’ campaign committee incharge, Scindia told ET, “Kamal Nath ji and I are working completely in sync. We are discussing, meeting and talking daily and working towards a set goal.”
Congress president Rahul Gandhi favoured 71-year-old Kamal Nath over the young Scindia to lead the party in election-bound Madhya Pradesh. Even as Scindia is travelling across the state, he is spreading the same message of “working together” to the cadre. Speaking extensively about the decision of the party high command, Scindia said, “We have been working for the last year-and-a-half in putting together a unified common front against BJP in MP.
AICC and Rahul Gandhi ji have taken a decision. It is important for me at this point of time that we all work together to dislodge this this farcical government which has destroyed MP. This battle in MP is not for Congress. It is not for BJP. The battle is for the 7.5 crore people of MP and therefore for me, the interests of the citizens of my state come first.”
The 47-year-old scion of Scindia family of Gwalior said it is important that the message of unity reaches the cadre. “This is the message I have given all over the state, whether it is in the initial taking over ceremony of Kamal Nath ji and me on May 1 or during the 7-8 rallies I have held all across Malwa region. That is a message that must come from the heart because rhetoric is one thing and intent is more important. If one displays and shows that intent, somewhere it does resound.”
Scindia said Congress has several challenges ahead. The party is working towards a positive agenda and would soon put forward its vision before people of the state.
“There is not one major challenge. There are many challenges before the Congress. We have to prepare the blueprint of our vision. We have to go to polling booth committees in each assembly segment. Today that is how elections are fought. We need a robust dedicated machinery right down to the house level,” Scindia said.
