NEW DELHI: Many government officials will be working for at least a few hours on Christmas to mark Good Governance Day. The Narendra Modi government designated December 25 as such to mark the birthday of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Rural development minister Birender Singh will deliver the keynote address on the occasion of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana Divas, following the screening of a short film on the project and the release of the Standard Data Book of PMGSY-2014 as well as the journal Grameen Sampark. Civil aviation minister P Ashok Gajapathi Raju will inaugurate the implementation of 'e-office' and 'e-clearance'.

The ministry of communications and IT will make public new good governance initiatives and projects undertaken by DeitY and associated agencies with minister Ravi Shankar Prasad briefing the media, followed by a daylong exhibition. Cabinet secretary Ajit Seth asked all ministries on December 18 to showcase their success stories at the exhibition.
