Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) president, Lalu Prasad, was recently seen in a new avatar on Friday. After undergoing a kidney transplant last year and being in a period of rest and recovery, Lalu was seen playing badminton in a video on social media. The video was shared by by his younger son and deputy chief minister, Tejashwi Prasad on Instagram. Lalu Prasad can be seen playing badminton with a smile in the video.

Tejashwi Yadav shared the video with the caption: "Didn't learn to fear, didn't learn to bow down. Has fought, will fight, will not be afraid of jail and will win in the end,". Lalu's family is facing long legal battle in corruption cases.

An old hindi movie song 'Dhal gya din, ho gyi sham' can be heard in the background of the video. Lalu was seen playing badminton shots on the tune of this song.


Asked about the significance of the video, RJD state spokesperson Chaitranjan Gagan told ToI, "His health is gradually improving, and this marks a positive step in his recovery. After spending considerable time confined to bed, he is now engaging in physical activities." Gagan also emphasized, "Lalu ji is a man of determination, and he fulfills the pledges he takes."

The video has come at a time when opposition parties are trying to stich an alliance against the ruling BJP for the next year's Lok Sabha elections.

Lalu Prasad Yadav was away from Bihar for about seven months, undergoing a kidney transplant in Singapore and recuperating at the home of his eldest daughter Misa Bharti in Delhi.

Yadav senior returned to India in February after having a kidney transplant in Singapore in last December.

Lalu Yadav, 75, was diagnosed with severe kidney problems and was advised to undergo a kidney transplant. Rohini, one of his daughters, volunteered to be a donor.

Last December 5, the transplant was completed. The former Bihar chief minister is serving prison sentences in a number of fodder scam cases and is presently out on medical bail.
