Women's safety is collective responsibility of society: Kiran Bedi

There is a need to change the mindset of people and it is only then that the government and administration can complement efforts to ensure that women are safe in India, she said.
Addressing a gathering of girl students at Khalsa College for Women (KCW), where she also released her new book 'Kiran Bedi: Making of the Top Cop', Bedi said no society can progress unless it respects women.
Highlighting the rise in crimes against women, Bedi said "good education" must come from families and educational institutions to sensitise people.
Bedi, who had been a strong exponent of the Aam Aadmi Party earlier, however praised the Narendra Modi government.
"No doubt there is some change and the government seems to work. Earlier the situation was different when the government did not seem to exist at all," she told reporters.
When asked about contesting Delhi assembly elections, Bedi said she had no wish to contest so far and will vote for the party which will ensure a stable government and work in close coordination with the Centre.
