Withdrawal restrictions will first be relaxed for co-op banks first and will be removed totally when remonetisation is complete, says a government official.

NEW DELHI: Government today clarified that cash withdrawal restrictions will be eased when 80 per cent of the new currency is re-channelised in bank deposits.

News agency PTI quoting govt official said: ""Withdrawal restrictions will first be relaxed for co-op banks and will be removed totally when remonetisation is complete."

The official informed that banks have completed 50 per cent of deposits in new currency, which he said is an indication that gradually remonetisation is happening.
