With 1990 cases in 24 hours, total Covid-19 count reaches 26,496 in India

​​​​The total number of Covid-19 cases in the country has now risen to 26,496 on Sunday Morning, according to the Union Health Ministry website.

Of the total cases, 19,868 are active, 5,803 people have recovered, and 824 people have died due to the disease.
India witnessed a huge spike in total number of Covid-19 cases as 1990 new cases were added in a period of 24 hours.

The total number of Covid-19 cases in the country climbed to 26,496 on Sunday morning, according to the Union Health Ministry website.

Of the total cases, 19,868 are active, 5,803 people have recovered, and 824 people have died due to the disease.


As per the data available on the Health ministry's website, Maharashtra remained the worst-hit state with a total number of cases rising to 7628, followed by Gujarat which reported 3071 cases and Delhi which has reported 2625 cases.

Besides the trio, other states which have crossed the 2,000 mark are Rajasthan (2083) and Madhya Pradesh (2,096). These are followed by Tamil Nadu (1,821) and Uttar Pradesh (1,793).

Of the total 824 COVID-19 deaths, Maharashtra accounts for the highest number of 323 fatalities, followed by Gujarat (133), Madhya Pradesh (99), Delhi (54), Andhra Pradesh (31) and Rajasthan (27).
