Ahead of the Parliament's winter session, Union Minister for Parliamentary affairs Pralhad Joshi, on behalf of the government, has called for an all party meet on December 2.

The Winter session of Parliament will commence from December 4 and continue till December 22, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi had said earlier in November.

Due to counting of votes in five states, i.e., Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram and Telangana, the meeting has been preponed by a day. Typically, this meeting takes place just a day before the commencement of session.

The Winter session usually commences in the third week of November and concludes ahead of December 25.

The Winter session will 15 sittings spread over 19 days, the minister revealed in a tweet. "Amid Amrit Kaal looking forward to discussions on Legislative Business and other items during the session," he added.

The session is likely to have the Ethics Committee's report about the "cash-for-query" accusations made against TMC MP Mahua Moitra will be presented to the Lok Sabha.

The govt is expected to table three key bills during the session which seek to replace the Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure and the Evidence Act as the Standing Committee on Home has already adopted the three reports recently.

Another key bill pending in Parliament relates to the appointment of chief election commissioner and election commissioners.

Introduced in Monsoon session, the government had not pushed for its passage in the special session of Parliament amid protests from the opposition and former chief election commissioners as it seeks to bring on a par the status of the CEC and ECs with that of the cabinet secretary. At present, they enjoy the status of a Supreme Court judge.
