New Delhi: The BJP is going to win 75% of the seats in the Jat-dominated region of Haryana and will sweep the districts of Hisar and Jind, said Captain Abhimanyu, finance minister and the party’s Jat face in the state who himself is contesting from the Narnaund seat in Hisar.

Speaking to ET, Abhimanyu said it was a "false propoganda" of the Opposition that the Jats don’t vote for the BJP in Haryana. "We are going to win 75% of the seats in the (Jat-dominated) region this time. We will win all seats in Hisar and Jind and most of the seats in Rohtak, Sonipat and Jhajjar," Abhimanyu said.

The BJP could not do well in this region in the 2014 assembly elections but won all the 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana in 2019. "Bhupinder Singh Hooda himself lost from Sonipat by a huge margin of over 1.5 lakh votes while his son Deepender Hooda lost from Rohtak. What more proof is needed? The results of the Lok Sabha polls just four months ago showed that Jats and all other communities are against dynasty politics in Haryana of the Hooda father-son duo and are with the BJP government," Abhimanyu told ET.

Asked whether the BJP saw the Congress, the JJP or the INLD as its main competition, Abhimanyu said there "was absolutely no competition" and dismissed the challenge from the Jat-centric party of JJP led by Dushyant Chautala, claiming that "the JJP will not win even a single seat in Haryana".

He said the Congress manifesto launched on Friday, with promises like a farm loan waiver and an unemployment allowance, would not impress the people as everyone knew that Congress was in no position to win in the state. "These (promises of Congress) are non-issues in Haryana. People know that Congress and other Opposition parties can promise the moon but only to save their own sinking boat of dynasty politics and to send few of their leaders to the state assembly. BJP has worked far more for all the people," Abhimanyu said.

In Narnaud in Hisar, Abhimanyu faces a challenge this time from all three Opposition parties after he won by about 5,500 votes in the 2014 polls here by defeating the INLD candidate. During the 2016 Jat reservation protests, Abhimanyu's house in Rohtak was burnt down by protestors.
