As the INDIA coalition takes shape uniting the opposition parties, Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) Gujarat unit chief Ishudan Gadhvi on Monday announced that the party will contest 2024 election in Gujarat along with Congress.

Going a step further, Gadhvi also said that the parties will contest the election under a seat sharing formula, adding that in the case both AAP and Congress come together, BJP will not be able to wrest all 26 Lok Sabha seats from Gujarat.

It may be mentioned here that AAP had played a major spoiler for the Congress in 2022 Gujarat elections where the grand old party had its worst ever drubbing in the state leaving 156 seats to BJP and 5 to AAP and winning only across 17 seats. Congress leaders since long have been alleging that AAP has been in cahoots with the BJP.

Gadhvi's declaration took the local Congress by surprise and senior leaders ET spoke to declined to comment on the issue. Parthiv Kathwadia Congress spokesperson said that the decision of seat sharing is taken by the High Command.

"Whatever the high command decides, the party will go by that," he added.
