Will Sourav be face of Brand Bengal?
The former India captain may be West Bengal's brand ambassador.
According to the minister, who is close to Sourav, the cricket icon recently expressed his desire to do something for Bengal after his retirement. "He is extremely worried about Tata Motors pullout. Even the Salboni blast on the chief minister's convoy has worried him. He has repeatedly conveyed that to me. As a citizen, he is concerned about the state and wants the best for Bengal," Bhattacharya said.
Given Souravs countrywide popularity, Bhattacharya feels he is best-suited to showcase projects of the state. "This is the reason why he can well be a brand ambassador for the state," he said.
Asked if Sourav plans to enter politics, Bhattacharya said: "I dont think so. I have never asked him about politics. Nor would I even suggest that to him. However, if he represents Bengal it would be good for the state." Sourav has already set up his own cricket academy and is in the process of developing a sports complex in Behala.
