Will gouge out eyes of those who challenge TMC: Mamata Banerjee's nephew Abhishek

KOLKATA: Bengal BJP on Tuesday filed an FIR against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s nephew and Trinamool MP Abhisekh Banerjee, who on Monday told a Trinamool rally here that "those who dare to challenge Trinamool Congress government will have their eyes gouged and their hands chopped off."

Bengal BJP president Rahul Sinha told reporters that they will file a legal case against the Trinamool MP before the Kolkata high court on Wednesday. "Trinamool government did not achieve anything in their four year and the party leaders are threatening opposition out of their frustration.

We will teach Abhisekh a lesson. Already we have filed an FIR against him and we will also take legal action," Sinha said. Interestingly, the Trinamool MP did not name any political party while making his comments at a party rally here.

But the BJP took up the issue suo moto and decided to take legal action against the ruling party MP. Criticising Abhisekh, BJP national secretary Siddharth Nath Singh said on Tuesday that use of such language by a youth leader is condemnable.

"We condemn this type of political language being used by a youth leader. We can throw them out through democracy," said Singh. Meanwhile, Mamata has identified three districts as political vulnerable and given special charge to her senior leaders. She has asked minister Subrata Mukherjee to look after party affairs in Darjeeling.

Mukherjee had managed to wrest both Lok Sabha seats from Bankura district which was a CPM stronghold. For Murshidabad, Mamata brings her young MP Suvendu Adhikari to take on Congress strongman Adhir Chowdhury. Earlier, Mamata had made singer Indranil Sen incharge of Murshidabad. Like Murshidabad, Malda is also a Mamata's weak spot. She has assigned Suvendu Adhikary to look after party affairs in Malda too.
