Will continue as CM till PM Modi, Amit Shah back me: BS Yediyurappa

Bengaluru: Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Friday ruled out resignation and said he will continue to be the chief minister as long he has the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah. “With their support, I have the strength to handle 100 such cases,” he told the Assembly while vowing to prove his innocence in the court case, referring to the case against him in illegal denotification of land.

Replying to opposition leader in the Assembly Siddaramaiah’s comments, Yediyurappa said: “False cases will not deter me. The opposition leader has been speculating about my resignation. But let me tell you, I will continue to be the CM as long as I have the support of the Prime Minister, home minister and people of the state.”

Two days ago, Siddaramaiah had taken a dig at the chief minister saying that the Karnataka CM was out on bail. Yediyurappa, in his reply, reminded Siddaramaiah that several national and state leaders of the Congress were out on bail. He also said the BJP will win 150 seats in the next Assembly elections and the Congress will be permanently relegated to the opposition.
