Wife of legendary cartoonist R K Laxman, Kamala Laxman passes away

PUNE: Kamala Laxman, well known author and wife of legendary cartoonist R K Laxman, passed away due to old age ailments here today, family sources said.

She was 89.

Kamala's demise came about ten months after Laxman breathed his last in January this year.

A devoted wife, she looked after Laxman ensuring proper medical care and comfort during the period when his health was failing, requiring frequent hospitalisation in Pune and Mumbai.

Kamala used to persuade Laxman, seated in a wheel chair, to draw the 'Common Man' with those magical strokes, whenever his admirers called on him.
