Widow pension scheme to cover 18 years and above: Minister

The proposed widow pension scheme underlined in the general Budget would cover 18 years of age and above, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Saryu Roy informed the Jharkhand Assembly.

RANCHI: The proposed widow pension scheme underlined in the general Budget would cover 18 years of age and above, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Saryu Roy informed the Jharkhand Assembly today.

Inadvertently, it was mentioned forty years and above in the Budget speech, he clarified here.

During his speech on Budget on March 19, Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that the state had proposed to introduce "Rajya Vidhava Samman Pension Yozana (pension for widows)" as it was not possible to give pension to all the beneficiaries under the centrally assisted "Indira Gandhi Vidhava Pension Yozana" following some hindrances.

The beneficiaries would get Rs 600 per month, Das had said.
