Why wasn't state kept in loop?, Asks AAP Government
NEW DELHI: In the wake of the controversy surrounding the Nirbhaya documentary, the Delhi government has taken note of the fact that the state administration was not kept in the loop when permissions were granted to filmmaker Leslee Udwin by MHA to interview one of the convicts.

Since prisons are a state subject, the AAP-led government is now planning to take up the matter with Tihar authorities to ensure that it must be informed if any such matter arises in future. The state's home department will study the Jail manual and issue necessary directions, if required.

The documentary sparked off a heated debate in Parliament on Wednesday. The state's home department is reportedly looking into the facts of the case involving grant of permission by Tihar authorities to the filmmaker in 2013.

Jitender Kumar Tomar, who holds the home portfolio, is learnt to have held meetings with the officials on Tuesday to know whether the Delhi government was even consulted on the matter.

The home department has also sought a report from Tihar authorities in this regard. With the jail administration claiming that while Leslee had permission to shoot the film, the terms of agreement were flouted, the Delhi government is now concerned about the issue of accountability.
