The Congress on Monday demanded an explanation from the prime minister, the UP chief minister and the interim finance minister as to why Yogi Adityanath has ordered to maintain a “status quo” into a probe by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) into the alleged purchase and sale of 200 acres in Moradab through suspected black money by Arvind Goel –– the brother-in-law of Central Board of Direct Taxes (CDBT) chairman Sushil Chandra. The Congress demand came after an ET report on Monday detailed the whole controversy.

AICC spokesperson Manish Tewari asked at the official presser: “We would like to ask the prime minister, the CM of Uttar Pradesh and the interim finance minister of the Government of India… has this probe or was this probe withdrawn because this gentleman Goyal happens to be closely related to the current chairperson of the Central Bureau of Direct Taxes, Sushil Chandra, and, as you are aware, unprecedented extensions have been given to this gentleman by the NDA-BJP government.”
