Why PM Narendra Modi is silent of foreigners issue, CM Tarun Gogoi

GUWAHATI: Launching counter attack of Prime minister, Narendra Modi, Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi questioned as why Modi did not speak on the foreigners issue.

Illegal influx from Bangladeshis one of the prominent issues in Assam. Gogoi on Tuesday said Modi is not aware about the situation in Assam.

He talked about broad gauge railway track already Assam has broad gauge. “Modi said Assam has water to produce electricity to supply to the whole country. Modi is not ware Assam does not such resource to produce electricity. In 2014 Modi took vote in the name of foreigners however now he has forgotten the same. "

The chief minister said that he was expecting Modi will announce package for Bodoland. “I thought he will give Rs 10,000 Crore to Assam and Rs 1, 000 Crore for Bodoland. However he did not announce anything.”

Gogoi said that despite Assam witnessing two devastating wave of floods in 2014 and 2015, Modi not visit the state. “Over 100 people were killed and lakhs of people were affected however Modi did not visit the state and did not released the money for the state.”

Gogoi said that Modi has said Assam has to furnish details of money spent in last 15 years. “Ask BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma he has been there as minister in finance, planning, health, education, he can give details.” Himanta left congress and joined BJP.

The chief minister said he will present a white paper on the works and fund flow during the UPA period. “Let BJP also do the same. Modi has not stated when will special category status of Assam will be restored and what happened to the demand of Scheduled tribe status to six communities.”
