Why is UPA-II celebrating? BJP asks

NEW DELHI: Ahead of UPA-II's fourth anniversary celebrations, the BJP today said that the government has lost the authority to rule the country.

Addressing a press conference in Delhi, BJP leaders Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley questioned the UPA's planned celebrations on the completion of the government's four years in office.

"Why is the UPA-II celebrating? What is there to celebrate?" Sushma Swaraj asked.

Criticising the dual power centres in the UPA-II, Sushma Swaraj said that Manmohan Singh is the PM but not a leader of the UPA. "For every decision, the PM looks up to UPA chief Sonia Gandhi," Swaraj said.

"Never has the PM's post been undermined so much," Arun Jaitley said.

Arun Jaitley also said that the UPA-II has survived for four years by misusing the CBI. Had it not been for the misuse of the CBI, the UPA would not have been able to complete even four years in office. The SP and BSP would have withdrawn support to the UPA government by now, Arun Jaitley added.

Arun Jaitley said that BJP is confident that Lok Sabha election results will be in its favour. There was no question of third front coming to power, Jaitley said.
