PATNA: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday hit back at BJP, which has been attacking him for the Patna serial blasts, for its silence on the 2008 Ahmedabad serial blasts.

“Politics is being played out in the name of Patna serial blasts. Several other states have had to face terrorist attacks. What about the 2008 Ahmedabad serial blasts? They (BJP) don’t want to speak anything on the Ahmedabad incident,” Kumar told reporters while releasing the annual report card on the performance of the state government.

He said both Bodh Gaya and and Patna serial blasts had thrown up new challenges for Bihar Police as it did not have the experience of dealing with terrorist related cases. “But the Bihar police did a good job by arresting one of the accused whose interrogation provided vital clues into both Patna and Bodh Gaya serial blasts. Before NIA took over the probe, the police had nearly cracked the case,” he said.
