As the government amended the electoral bond scheme to give a fresh one-week window for the sale of such bonds, the Congress has asked why 65% to 70% of the money coming out of electoral bonds always went to the BJP.

"The question is who is the beneficiary of these bonds? Is it not correct that 65% to 70% of the money coming out of these electoral bonds is going to the BJP? Why is it so? The Modi government must answer this question," AICC spokesman Gourav Vallabh said at the official briefing in response to a question on the amendment to the bond scheme.

He added, "There are various cases of evidence. Various American-based companies time and again have said, as per their SEC filings, that they had given bribes to the government of India and the government of India officials. Why didn't the Modi government investigate these charges through CBI, ED, I-T...? That is why we have asked the basic question to the Modi government - why is it that 65% to 70% of the money coming out of electoral bonds is going only to the BJP?"
