WASHINGTON: As PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardrai is all set to win Saturday's Pakistan presidential poll, the White House has said that it expected the winner to cooperate in the fight against terrorism.

A White House spokesman said that Washington would continue to work with the next Pakistan President and would also like to have his co-operation in its ongoing global war-on-terror.

"We'll continue to work with them, we need to have their cooperation," The News quoted spokeswoman Dana Perino as saying when asked about bilateral relations should front-runner Asif Ali Zardari win the presidential vote.

Speaking to reporters in Washinhgton last evening, Perino said: "One of the reasons that Zardari will become the president is because unfortunately his wife was killed by terrorists, so they have a mutual interest in trying to go after terrorists."
