Whistleblower denies he was Adarsh promoter
Vice-Admiral Sanjeev Bhasin, whistleblower in the Adarsh Cooperative Housing Society (ACHS) scam, denied all allegations that he was once a promoter of the controversial Colaba society.

MUMBAI: Vice-Admiral Sanjeev Bhasin, whistleblower in the Adarsh Cooperative Housing Society (ACHS) scam, on Monday denied all allegations that he was once a promoter of the controversial Colaba society that has come up in gross violation of environmental laws.
On Monday, copies of an undated and unverified document were circulated by some state government officials, purportedly to show that Bhasin, the flag officer commanding-in-chief (Western Naval Command), was present as a promoter at a meeting held to elect the chief promoter of the society.
According to the document, Commander John E Mathew was elected as the society's chief promoter. Speaking to TOI, Bhasin denied all allegations. He said that he had never attended any meeting at which any Mathew was elected Adarsh's chief promoter.
''I have seen this document given to media. I sign somewhat similar to this, but this is not my signature,'' Bhasin said after scanning a copy of the document that was emailed to him by TOI.
Bhasin also denied he had ever applied for membership at Adarsh. He told TOI, ''I was the first one to write about the security angle, about the threat to defence installations. I had done detailed research on the security threat posed by this society.'' The ACHS is located near ammunition and fuel supply depots as well as other defence facilities at Colaba.
The document lists a Rear Admiral Sanjeev Bhasin as being present as one of eight promoters at the meeting.
