Wherever Rahul Gandhi goes, BJP wins: Himanta Biswa Sarma taunts Congress chief

Guwahati: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that wherever Congress leader Rahul Gandhi goes for campaigning BJP wins.

Assam is going to assembly polls early next year. Sarma said, “Wherever Rahul Gandhi goes, BJP wins elections. I said this in Bihar as well.”

Sarma had addressed around eight rallies in Bihar in the run up to the polls.


He added, “Rahul Gandhi is BJP’s biggest star campaigner - when he visits, BJP’s victory gets confirmed. We will 100% win the 2026 Assam Assembly elections if Rahul Gandhi comes to Assam. "

Sarma said, " BJP in Assam will do much better. The election results in Assam cannot be imagined. Every household will vote for us.”

Sarma lambasted the opposition parties' recent unity meeting in Guwahati, Sarma mocked the meeting of seven opposition parties, held on November 12 to revive the Asom Sonmilito Morcha as an event for fixing the date of marriage without any political relevance.”

He targeted Raijor Dal chief Akhil Gogoi. “Wherever Akhil Gogoi is present, he will spoil the situation.”

Senior leaders from the Congress, Asom Jatiya Parishad (AJP), Raijor Dal, CPI(M), and other regional outfits have earlier met to strengthen coordination and revive the front.

The front was created in 2021 however it scattered later.

A senior BJP leader said, " BJP will soon start talks about seat sharing with its allies Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), United Peoples’ Party-Liberal (UPPL)".
