As India enters its fourth lockdown, the number of positive Covid-19 cases continues to rise. The only comforting metric is recovery rate, which stands at 39%. However, the key is critical care preparedness. The lockdown was supposed to give states time to prepare isolation beds and ICU facilities. They were told to get ready Covid care hospitals and centres to house the critically ill, moderate and mild patients. States were also told to share this information in the public domain, but only a handful have done it. Divya Rajagopal takes a look.
