When Delhi counts its votes, Amit Shah to be busy with son’s wedding
Gandhinagar: On Tuesday, when most party colleagues will be busy keeping an eye on the results of the Delhi assembly elections, BJP’s national president will be busy in Ahmedabad’s YMCA Club with his son Jay’s wedding.

While several senior BJP leaders are expected to attend the high-profile event, Shah, will also hold a separate wedding reception in the National Capital on February 15, where the men and women who matter in Indian politics and industry will attend.

Senior BJP leaders, including Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Gujarat BJP in-charge Dinesh Sharma, are expected to attend the wedding. There is, however, no clarity on whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi would attend the wedding.

Sources maintain that all chief ministers of BJP-ruled states as well as BJP MPs have been invited, but more than likely, they would attend the reception in Delhi. Another reception will be held on Friday at the Karnavati Club, in Ahmedabad, where Chief Minister Anandiben Patel, the Leader of Opposition and all BJP MLAs, MPs and other senior leaders from Gujarat and BJP workers from Shah’s assembly constituency Naranpura have been invited. Industrialists like Mukesh Ambani, Anil Ambani and Gautam Adani have also been invited.

Sources close to Shah maintain that while the Shah family wants to keep the wedding a close family affair, the receptions will altogether be a different affair. “While the reception at Karnavati Club will largely be for the invitees from the state itself, for the rest it will be in Delhi on February 15,” according to a source.

Shah took stock of the arrangements at the Karnavati Club on Saturday. He arrive there immediately after polling to the Delhi assembly was over. The venue will see around 3,000 invitees on February 12, maintained sources.
