What is the reason for BJP high command's decision to remove Sadananda Gowda? wife asks

MANGALORE: Sadananda Gowda family reacted sharply after he submitted his resignation as Karnataka chief minister to BJP chief Nitin Gadkari following leadership crisis in the state.

``This should not have happened. He should have been allowed to complete his term. His 11 months of tenure as chief minister was spotless,'' said DV Bhaskar Gowda, brother of DV Sadananda Gowda.

The same opinion is echoed by Sadananda Gowda's mother Kamala too. ``She is dejected, but has not expressed it explicitly. But her face says it all,'' said Bhaskar.

Datty Gowda, wife of DV, is crestfallen. ``Why? Did he not give good administration in the 11 months he was CM? What is the reason for this decision by high command,'' she questions.

``Whatever done, he is the loyal soldier of the party. I'm proud that he did not do anything that brought disrepute to the family and we can walk with our heads high in public. The silver lining is that national leader LK Advani, state governor HR Bhardwaj, and the people of the state have lauded his work,'' Datty said.

She revealed though his working hours was the same, from 5 am to midnight, irrespective of what post he held, his term as CM was more taxing. ``He was under lot of pressure as he had onerous responsibility to discharge his duties as CM and handle the internal dissidence,'' she noted.

Sources in BJP said that they felt humiliated by this development. ``We cannot talk in the open, but we are with him. Who are to tell the cadres to work for the party when good work does not get rewarded,'' they said.

They also said that if Gowda was replaced by BS Yeddyurappa, it would have been somewhat logical as he was a stop gap arrangement. "There is no logic in replacing him with Jagadish Shettar, when he had given clean administration,'' the party workers said.

In his home town Sullia and earlier constituencies Puttur and Udupi, people are of the opinion that great injustice has been done to Gowda and he should been allowed to complete his term.
