- The Punjab government is seeking legal opinion on whether Sidhu can keep appearing in TV shows as an office holder
"I have left 70 to 80 per cent of work in television entertainment industry... I do office work from 9 am to 6 pm... What I do at night is nobody's business," the Congress minister said.
However, Sidhu did not speak against Punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh on the issue.
When asked about the newly-formed Punjab government seeking legal counsel on whether he can continue working in the entertainment industry as an office holder, the Congress leader said, "Whatever Amarinder Singh says on this matter is right. Boss is always right."
Earlier today, Capt Amarinder Singh said he will seek legal opinion after Sidhu made it clear that he will continue his role as a celebrity-judge on a popular TV comedy show.
"We will have to ask our advocate general to give us an opinion... whether a person who is a minister can do what he wants to do. It will depend entirely on what legal position is," the Punjab chief minister said.
Sidhu's wife and former state legislator Navjot Kaur Sidhu came out in his support on the matter.
"Such hype has been created about Navjot earning a living from television... We have no other business or source of income except television. He has left 80 per cent of shows, which included IPL, commentary, etc," Kaur said in a Facebook post on Sunday.
In the recent assembly polls, Navjot Singh Sidhu won the Amritsar East seat, which was earlier represented by his wife, on a Congress ticket. He has been made minister of tourism and culture, and local bodies in the new Congress government.
