'What can Chappell do with team of buffaloes'

MUMBAI: Indian cricket coach Greg Chappell can find some solace in the words of Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray even as politicians continue to criticise and slam his style of functioning.
Unlike many of his peers from various parties, the Sena supremo thinks the coach should not be held responsible for the Team India’s pathetic performance in South Africa. Many Parliament members have blamed for India’s debacle.
In his hard-hitting editorial in party mouthpiece Saamna, Mr Thackeray, however, slammed Indian cricketers for their inability to perform away from home and said Chappell could do very little with the bunch of players that he had at his disposal.
“Most of the players are unpredictable lads. It’s very tough to predict who will perform and who will not,” Mr Thackeray front-paged the article in his paper.
“Chappell does not merit the criticism which he is facing. What can he do if the players are so unpredictable?” the Sena chief asked. He brought in a comparison of the Indian players with buffaloes that take a long time to rise once they sit down.
