Former Chief Minister of West Bengal Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee’s condition is stable and his health condition has considerably improved.

Bhattacharjee remains on intermittent non-invasive ventilatory support on the sixth day of admission, according to the Woodlands Hospital. He is alert and is responding to doctors and visitors, the hospital authority said.

“An USG of chest that was done today afternoon revealed that no active intervention is required at present. Relevant conservative medical management and physiotherapy is being done. The IV antibiotics he is currently on are to continue till Saturday. He is on Ryles tube feeding and swallow assessment is being done. His overall clinical status remains stable,” the hospital medical bulletin said.


“He was admitted to Woodlands Hospital on July 29 with lower respiratory tract infection and Type II respiratory failure,” according to a medical bulletin by Woodlands.
