A Trinamool Congress worker died in pre-poll violence in South 24 Parganas district following an intra-party political feud on Sunday, taking the total death toll to 13 in the last 23 days since the announcement of polls and during nominations.

Trinamool leader Jiarul Mollah, a resident of South 24 Parganas' Basanti, had been receiving threats for quite some time, family members told mediapersons. "There was a clash between the Trinamool and Youth Trinamool of the same party and he had complained to the local police about the threats," Mollah's daughter said.

Trinamool Congress state spokesperson Kunal Ghosh blamed CPM miscreants, who are dominant in Basanti area, for the murder.

Violence also erupted in several parts of the state in which several Trinamool Congress, CPM and BJP workers were injured.
