“Adjournment motion was brought by our MLAs. The West Bengal Chief Minister should have come to the assembly to give an action taken report but he did not have time for it. Such an insensitive Chief Minister should resign,” Adhikari said.
Adhikari has moved Calcutta High Court demanding an NIA probe into the incident. “We have moved Calcutta High Court and filed a PIL in Chief Justice’s bench demanding NIA probe into the incident. It has been accepted and will go for hearing,” Adhikari said.
“We demand compensation from the state government for the victims whose houses have been damaged. Houses of many locals have been damaged,” Adhikari said, adding stringent measures should be taken in this regard. A team BJP MLAs, led by Adhikari, visited North 24 Parganas district’s Duttapukur. Adhikari spoke to the locals in the neighbourhood.
In the last six months, more than 200 people have lost their lives in various blasts in illegal fire-cracker factories, Adhikari claimed.
Meanwhile, the NIA officials collected evidence from the incident spot today. One person named Samirul Islam, has been arrested till date in connection with the blast. Officer-in-Charge of Nilganj has been closed after yesterday’s incident. Police have confirmed nine deaths till today.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee claimed that the green fire crackers should be manufactured instead of illegal crackers for profit.
Adhikari blamed involvement of the local MLA, state food minister and police of the neighbouring police station for collecting money from the illegal firecracker factory.
West Bengal Pradesh Congress Chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury also visited the explosion spot.
