West Bengal State Congress lashes out at Mamata Banerjee for her Aadhaar remark
KOLKATA: Lashing out at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her Aadhaar card remark, senior state Congress leader Manas Bhuniya said her comments reflected the state government's failure to provide the Aadhaar cards to every resident of the state.

"What she is saying is absolutely misleading. It is not at all acceptable. The Aadhaar cards was brought in by the Central government to provide facilities to each and every citizen. So that no one is denied," Bhuniya said.

Banerjee yesterday said Aadhaar cards must not be made compulsory to receive LPG gas subsidy and called for immediate review of the Oil Ministry's move.

Banerjee in her capacity as Trinamool chief has also warned that if required, the IOC regional headquarters here might be gheraoed.

"It is really unfortunate that a chief minister is making such statements. Her statements against the Aadhaar card are nothing but a ploy to divert the attention from failure of the state government in arranging the required infrastructure for implementing the project," Bhuniya said.

According to state Congress sources, an MoU was signed between the Unique Identification Authority of India ( UIDAI) and West Bengal government by which the state would provide infrastructure required implement the project in the state.
