Kolkata: People of West Bengal are poised to embrace change with the ruling Trinamool Congress getting ousted and BJP will come to power in 2026, BJP State President Sukanta Majumdar said on Sunday as he participated in a core committee meeting in Kolkata.

West Bengal BJP held a core committee meeting, with BJP Bengal co-observer Amit Malviya and central leader Sunil Bansal, Purulia MP Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato, former MP Locket Chatterjee among others, on Sunday over selection various district Presidents and the state President, ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit this month end. Shah is likely to visit Bengal on March 27 to chalk a roadmap for 2026 assembly polls.

Altogether 25 district Presidents out of 43 organizational districts have been announced by BJP as the saffron party continues its “Sangathan Parba” (Organizational Period). BJP is also in the process of selecting its state Presidents across the country, including Bengal.

Asked about the change of guard in Bengal BJP, Majumdar clarified the BJP state President will get changed soon as "captain gets changed though the team remains the same".

“Today we have organizational meeting. The change of State President is due. The work remains the same and it is a team game. Captain gets changed,” Majumdar said.

Meanwhile, 25 new district Presidents have been chosen while rest 18 out of 43 organizational districts are due. Today’s meeting revolved around the selection of these remaining ones, sources said.

However, there was ongoing feud and grievances after the recent announcement of 25 district Presidents in the state and even protests erupted in several parts. Dissident faces with posters and banners have been seen outside various party office on the issue.

Calling it partially "Trinamool-sponsored" work, Majumdar said today that “BJP is a party which runs with both old and new ones. If there are differences, the aggrieved people are free to speak to state and central leadership. One or two such incidents have happened. I think they are handiwork of Trinamool."

“Those who have been made district Presidents this time have been associated with the party for at least 10-15 years or close to our ideology. They have been chosen like that,” Majumdar said.

Former MP Locket Chatterjee said. "State President elections are going on like other states. We put 100% whenever we fight." Around 25 district Presidents have been announced.
