KOLKATA: Deputy Speaker of Bengal Assembly, Sonali Guha was caught on camera while ordering her party men to assault CPM polling agents and drive them out of the booths. Guha has been fielded in Satgachia constituency in South 24 Paragana from where Jyoti Basu used to fight the election. Basu was a five term MLA from Satgachia. Since 2001, Guha has been winning the seat.

According to sources, Guha misbehaved with the central forces outside the booth. She was reportedly not allowed to enter the polling booths. Later she complained of non-functioning of EVMs and ordered her party cadres to drive out all of the CPM polling agents by assaulting them. CPM leaders have already registered complaint with the Election Commission of India against Guha.

Significantly, the Election Commission has already received more than 1000 complaints in first five hours of the polling. Sporadic incidents of violence have been reported from South 24 Paragana district while constituencies in south Kolkata are witnessing a peaceful polling as of now.
