West Bengal government to take over Jessop and Dunlop

"We have decided to take over the Jessop and Dunlop. We will take steps in this direction and will also bring a bill," Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said.

West Bengal government to take over Jessop and Dunlop
KOLKATA: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today announced that the state government would take over the Jessop and Dunlop India Ltd which are now closed.

"We have decided to take over the Jessop and Dunlop. We will take steps in this direction and will also bring a bill," Banerjee told the house on the penultimate day of the current session before the coming Assembly election.

In this connection, she mentioned the central government taking over few closed tea gardens in north Bengal.

Both Jessop and Dunlop are owned by the Ruia group and both the units are presently closed.

Ruia Group had earlier tried to reopen the units but they closed down after few days of operation.
