The state tourism department has decided to start various degree and diploma courses on tourism and hotel management at various institutions across the state.

KOLKATA: West Bengal government has taken up a plan to develop new tourism circuits covering places of historical interest on priority basis, according to state tourism minister Goutam Deb.

The minister said that the state government has plans to develop a tourism circuit covering places in Bankura district like Bishnupur - famous for terracotta temples of 17th and 18th centuries - and Mukutmanipur, where the second biggest earth dam of the country is located.

He added that another circuit covering Plassey in Nadia, where the British won a decisive battle in 1757 and historical sites of Hazar Duari and Lal Bagh in Murshidabad was also being planned.
