West Bengal government starts irrigation project for lands in Singur
The state agriculture department has been directed by Mamata Banerjee to introduce modern agro-science-based technologies for better cultivation in the 997 acres in Singur.

West Bengal government has taken up an extensive project for irrigating the land in Singur, which the government has retruned to the farmers following the Supreme Court verdict. The government is setting up 56 deep tube-wells in five moujas of Singur so that farmers are able to take up proper irrigation measures.
The mini deep tube-wells are now being set up in Gopalnagar, Khasebheri, Beraberi, Singer Bheri and Bajemelia moujas.
Government officials said that the work for setting up the tube-wells was taken up on war footing and a part of the work has already been completed. The state government is also providing agri equipment and seeds to the Singur farmers.
It may be recalled that the land in Singur was a multicrop land and yielded three crops per year.
The state agriculture department has been directed by Mamata Banerjee, chief minister of Bengal to introduce modern agro-science-based technologies for better cultivation in the 997 acres in Singur.
