KOLKATA: West Bengal government is becoming stricter with food leakages from the PDS. The state food and supplies department is going to introduce a digital device - ‘E-post’- to check leakage of food grains from ration shops to fix accountability of the employees.

Food and supplies minister Jyoti Priyo Mullick said that this could check the corrupt practices of a section of the people selling the food grains.

"The department will also install GPS System on the vehicles carrying kerosene," Mallick added. Apart from that the department has also taken up various new initiatives to check leakage of supply across the state, he said.

It may be mentioned that at present, the state government provides 15kg of rice per family and 20kg wheat per family at Rs 2 per kg under the Anttodaya Anna Yojana.
