West Bengal government assures land for industry

The West Bengal government has 3,000 acres of land spread across 19 industrial parks at its disposal and industry will be assured of land.

KOLKATA: The West Bengal government has 3,000 acres of land spread across 19 industrial parks at its disposal and industry will be assured of land if proposals of investment come from them, an official of the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC) said today.

"We have 23 applications pending for food parks. Talks are on regarding foundry and rubber parks," WBIDC managing director Krishna Gupta also said here.

The state government has 3,000 acres of land spread across 19 industrial parks at its disposal, he added.

According to him, WBIDC, the state's industrial facilitator, has received proposals from investments in "bits and pieces" for these industrial parks.

Gupta added that WBIDC has cleared all pending applications for use of land in excess of the ceiling (24.2 acres) under Section 14 Y of West Bengal Land Reforms Act, 1955.

Industry representatives raised concerns over single window clearance process for investment and procedural delay in registration of land. According to them, such a registration process affects the speedy commissioning of industries in the state.
