West Bengal ex-DG Rajat Majumdar held as CBI closes in on Saradha scam 'big guns'
KOLKATA: The CBI on Tuesday arrested former IPS-officer-turned-Trinamool Congress-politician Rajat Majumdar, with officers indicating that it has brought them one step closer to the “high and mighty” in the ruling party who were involved in the Ponzi scam.

This is said to be the most significant arrest yet in the Saradha probe because Majumdar worked as consultant to the government and the Saradha Group at the same time after retiring as DG (armed police). To add to TMC's anxiety, CBI summoned its MP Srinjoy Bose over his newspaper deal with the Saradha group.

CBI chief Ranjit Sinha said the agency will get to the bottom of the scam. Sinha said he was "aware" of the March 2012 meeting between Sudipta Sen and the TMC brass in Kalimpong."The time will soon come when you will see the final result of the probe."

Majumdar complained of chest pain after his arrest and was taken to the NRS Hospital, were doctors could not find anything wrong.
