West Bengal Elections 2011: Pranab hails TMC-Congress win
NEW DELHI: Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee today hailed the TMC-Congress victory in West Bengal as a win for the alliance and took digs at leaders from both parties who were opposed to the tie-up.

"There is a clear two-third majority for the alliance. Many stalwarts of the Left parties, including the chief minister, are trailing. The TMC and Congress candidates are winning," Mukherjee told reporters.

Mukherjee, who was in the forefront in forging an alliance between Congress and UPA partner TMC in West Bengal, maintained that this was a victory of the alliance.

"Surprisingly, people (within TMC and Cong) who did not accept the alliance are losing. People did not accept them," Mukherjee said.

The TMC-Congress alliance is leading in 220 seats in the 294-member West Bengal Assembly. TMC is ahead in more than 181 seats.
