Speculations about Chatterjee's quitting Congress have become rife after his meeting with Mamata Banerjee, who reprtedly, has urged him to join TMC.

KOLKATA: The deputy leader of the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) in West Bengal Rabindranath Chatterjee has decided to quit the post, making it almost certain that he will leave the Congress to join the ruling Trinamool Congress by the week-end.
Chatterjee on Wednesday has written a letter to the CLP chief Md. Soharab and informed him that he will quit the post of the CLP deputy leader. It is learnt hat Chatterjee has also written a letter to the West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury informing him that he will quit the party as well.
CLP leader Sohrab told ET on Wednesday that “Chatterjee has given a letter to me informing that he wants to quit the post of the deputy leader. I have asked him not to quit the post. He told me that he will meet me tomorrow to discuss the issue.“
Chatterjee, a Congress MLA from Katwa in Burdwan district and Samar Mukherjee, party MLA from Ratua in Malda district met the chief minister in the state Assembly on Friday and it is learnt that Mamata Banerjee has urged Chatterjee to quit the Congress to join them. Speculations about Chatterjee's quitting Congress have become rife after his meeting with the chief minister.
