Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Friday said his government has a "zero-tolerance" policy towards unrest, hooliganism and anti-social activities, and warned that he was ready to go to any lengths to tackle such incidents.

At a press conference organised by the state BJP to mark 12 years of the BJP-led government at the Centre, he said that maintaining law and order was a priority for his government in West Bengal.

"After we came to power, there have been certain incidents, and we tackled them firmly, sending out a clear message that there will be zero tolerance towards this kind of unrest, hooliganism and anti-social activities. We will not allow such things to continue," the chief minister said.

Asserting that he was ready to go to any lengths against such incidents, Adhikari said, "The strictest action will be taken against those involved in vandalism and taking the law into their own hands."

The chief minister said maintaining peace and law and order was a priority for his government, and drew a contrast with the previous TMC administration, asserting that anti-social elements would not be allowed to disrupt normal life.
