Banerjee urged the Centre for taking up “urgent bank protection schemes in the entire stretch of extended jurisdiction by the Farakka Barrage Project Authority (FBPA) in consultation with the state government,” the letter mentioned
She also pointed out to the PM that it is becoming difficult for the state government to arrange funds for the bank protection works. She also mentioned that the matter was earlier raised to the Union Minister of Jal Shakti in August last year.
Despite several requests by the state government, the FBPA has not paid much heed to rive erosion problem in its extended jurisdiction, Banerjee mentioned in the letter.
