The West Bengal Chief Minister will leave Kolkata on March 21 for Dubai and then go to London from there, people in the know said. The invitation to deliver the lecture was sent to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) at the end of 2024. She will return to Kolkata on March 29.
The Chief Minister will fly to Dubai first from Kolkata on March 21, and from Dubai she will fly to London.
“Apart from delivering the lecture at Oxford University, the Chief Minister is scheduled to attend certain other scheduled programmes in UK. She is also expected to meet some UK-based industrialists and business delegation and hold meetings to discuss potential investments in West Bengal,” people in the know said.
However, it is not clear the topic on which the chief minister will deliver her address at Oxford University.
In 2023, the Chief Minister, accompanied with a business delegation, went to Spain for scout industries to Bengal. During the UK visit, she is also scheduled to attend meetings with business delegations. In the recent Bengal Global Business Summit 2025 in Kolkata, various delegates from the United Kingdom had participated.
In 2015, the Chief Minister visited the United Kingdom. It is learnt that the Chief Minister was supposed to deliver an address at Oxford University in 2021. However, it was cancelled at the last moment.
