Various organisations fighting for minorities in Bangladesh and West Bengal BJP have planned to stage demonstrations at Ghojadanga border in Basirhat blocking. This comes a day after at least 50 Hindu organisations, including monks from ISKCON and Bharat Sevashram Sangha on Thursday staged protests for safety of the minority communities in Bangladesh, attacks on Hindu temples and demanding release of ISKCON monk Chinmay Krishna Das.

BJP Leader of Opposition (LoP) Suvendu Adhikari along with other saffron party MLAs also participated in the protest without party flag.

“We send 97 items to your (Bangladesh) country. We send onions, potatoes, boats, even engines used in boats and so many other items to Bangladesh,” Adhikari said.

After the arrest ofISKCON monk Chinmay Krishna Das and recent postponement of hearing to January 2025, the monks called the Bengali Hindus to come together to fight for the minorities in Bangladesh. They urged the Indian government to open the border for the minorities who are waiting outside the international border near Hilli in Nadia, Bangaon’s Petrapole border and other borders. Monks from Iskcon sang kirtans and protested on the stage.
Kartick Maharaj (Swami Pradiptananda) from Bharat Sevashram Sangha, said, "Chinmay Krishna Das fought for the minorities creating a common platform and protested. We will continue the movement till he is released. Why India government silent when minorities are suffering? We have appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to help the minorities.”

"I went to the Hili border and saw how the people from the minority community are crying for food and water near our international border, which has been sealed. We have to prove, we Bengali Hindus are together. Muslim brothers and all political parties-Trinamool, Congress and BJP should come together and save India," Kartick Maharaj said. "Potatoes and onions export should be stopped to Bangladesh."

The monks of various organizations have decided to chalk out a common strategy to plan the future course of action against Bangladesh. "We will sit in a meeting today and we will chalk out a plan. Like the Tripura government which has stopped goods trucks, we need to take similar action,” he said.

“If the Centre does not listen to us, we will stop the border with lakhs of people in various borders in Bengal,” the monk said.

BJP leader and LoP Suvendu Adhikari said, “The Hindu monks are compelled to take permission from Calcutta High Court for the Hindu monks’ rally in Kolkata. Every day, the Hindus are attacked and the experience of women is indescribable.”

Asked about a fatwa against women asking them not to go out, Adhikari said, “This is Talibani government in Bangladesh which is changing the Constitution and trying to enforce personal law. They are trying implement their own agenda. World Communities, especially the Hindus and various countries across the world should react. In 1971, this kind of incident had happened as I have read. In 2024, a similar incident was happening. The world community will react, and I have expectations about it.”

LoP expressed hope that after January 2025, the world community will come forward on the Bangladesh issue.
Adhikari said, “We have to win this battle. In 1971, during the liberation of Bangladesh, the Indian army contributed so much. On 16 December, on Vijay Diwas, a Pakistani army General resigned in Bangladesh. At least 30 lakh have become martyrs in 1971 while 14 lakh Hindu Bengalis took one and half years to oust the “rajakars” from power in 1971.”
