Slamming West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee for minority votebank appeasement, West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar said on Tuesday that Mamata Banerjee did not believe in the ideology of Ram Chandra and is engaged in appeasement politics.

"In the coming Lok Sabha polls, we will vote for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and thus establish “Ram Rajya” in the country. Banerjee was invited to Ram Mandir on January 22 but she will not attend it. Instead, she is organizing a “harmony procession”. She stands for Babar and does not support the ideology of Ram Chandra," said Majumdar.

“We will celebrate January 22 in our neighbourhood and it will not be limited to any caste, creed or religion, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates the “Pran Pratishtha” ceremony at Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. We will fight on the ideology of Ram Chandra while Mamata Banerjee will just do the opposite," Majumdar added.

Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition (LoP) in state assembly Suvendu Adhikari said, “I would urge the Governor for intimating the CRPF. By calling for a harmony procession, Mamata Banerjee is actually trying to provoke people. BJP never discriminates against people on the basis of religion but she is trying to do it.”

Trinamool Chairperson Mamata Banerjee has announced her plan to organize a "harmony procession" on January 22 in Kolkata, the day consecration ceremony at Ram Mandir in Ayodhya will take place. She announced on Tuesday that she will lead her party's rally and invited people from all religions to join her.

“We will hold a rally from Hazra to Park Circus Maidan and hold a meeting there," the chief minister said.

Adhikari said, Banerjee had instigated the people before the Ramnavami in similar ways and violence had broken out in Bengal.

“On the auspicious 22nd Jan 2024, when Bharat will be witnessing Pran Pratistha at Ram Mandir in Ayodhyadham, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, in brazen disregard of Hindu sentiments, has announced ‘Sarba Dharm’ rally, a political program in Kolkata and at blocks across Bengal,” Amit Malviya, co-incharge-West Bengal said in his X Handle.

“This is nothing but preparing ground for communal confrontation(s) on a day when Hindus will be fasting, observing rituals and visiting Temples. Everyone has seen how she allowed Ramanavami Shobha Yatras across Bengal to be stone pelted, when no such incident occurred during Hanumanotsav, just six days later, when central forces were deployed. We saw how sadhus were lynched in Purulia, just last week, while a criminal like Sheikh Shahjahan continues to abscond,” Malviya said.
