The candidates of the BJP for forthcoming bypoll are Joy Saha (Khardah), Palash Raha (Gosaba), Niranjan Biswas (Shantipur), Ashok Mandal (Dinhata).
Taking a shift from its earlier stance, BJP leadership has selected candidates from the organizational side. Ashok Mondal is district vice-President of Coochbehar who is fighting from Dinhata while Joy Saha is a young face and he is the district President of North Kolkata and suburban area. Niranjan Biswas is General Secretary of Nadia South while Palash Raha is District President of Mathura Organizational District.
BJP State President Sukanta Majumdar said, “Whoever fights for our party-be it celebrity candidate or organizational side, whoever fight as BJP candidate are BJP workers. So, we do not make any special focus on organizational candidates.”
CPI-M and AITC have already announced candidates while Congress will not field candidates in all the seats.
Announcing three candidates from the coming by-polls in Bengal on October 30, West Bengal Mamata Banerjee said, “We have four more by-election in October. Braj Kishore Goswami will fight from Santipur, Udayan Guha will fight from Dinhata and Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay will fight from Khardaha.” Subrata Mondal will fight from Gosaba Constituency.
