NEW DELHI: Welspun Energy, India's biggest developer of solar projects, on Sunday said the Welspun Group has contributed Rs 1 crore towards the relief work in flood- ravaged Uttarakhand.


"In line with its commitment to fulfilling its social responsibility, Welspun Group has come forward to do their bit to aid in the rescue of stranded pilgrims and locals who have lost everything to the calamity," the company said in a statement.

Vineet Mittal, Co-Founder & Managing Director Welspun Energy, handed over the contribution amount on behalf of Welspun Group to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's Relief Fund.

Commenting on the initiative, Balkrishan Goenka, Chairman & Managing Director, Welspun Group said: "Socially responsible and ethical business practices are the defining tenets of Welspun's corporate philosophy."
