"If an illegal construction is demolished, then the government action itself is being called illegal. We had never seen such a legal system in the country," Raut said.
MUMBAI: A day after the Bombay High Court stayed the Maha Vikas Aghadi government’s decision to build an integrated car shed at Kanjurmarg in Mumbai based on a petition filed by the Centre, the Shiv Sena on Thursday hit out at the judiciary, saying the courts should not be taking sides in disputes between the opposition (BJP) and the MVA.

“The opposition party (BJP) has made it (the car shed issue) political. The courts should not interfere in this. The land belongs to the state… Where did the Centre come into the picture?” Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut told the media on Thursday.

He added: “The courts are getting involved in everything. A higher court has overruled the lower court’s order and has given bail to a man accused of murder. If an illegal construction is demolished, then the government action itself is being called illegal. We had never seen such a legal system in the country.”

Speaking about the Kanjurmarg plot, which has been claimed by the Centre too, Raut said: “These projects (car shed) are of public importance. We were not trying to build a farm house or bungalows for politicians. Such projects are important for the development of the city, state and country and if such (court) decisions come, then it is unfortunate.”

“People who are seeking justice from the courts are only getting dates. Farmers in Punjab are killing themselves, yesterday a saint killed himself. The centre and the judiciary should look into such issues. People are now wondering that the judiciary is giving such decisions because Maharashtra does not belong to them (BJP).”
